about Northern Copperhead Snakes
This is a picture of a Northern Copperhead Snake
Northern Copperhead snakes are one of the three types of venomous snakes found in Virginia. They are named for the coppery red color of their heads. They have an hourglass pattern consisting of dark bands on their bodies, with small rounded spots often appearing in the lighter areas. Northern Copperheads are generally docile and quiet if left alone, but will strike aggressively if disturbed.
